Lewis Van Alstyne III

Attorney Info

Lewis' practice is focused on civil litigation with an emphasis on construction litigation, including construction liens.  In addition to previously working for the large insurance defense firm of Gray|Robinson, P.A., he has a wide range of practical work experience both as a construction manager and an engineering project manager.  After obtaining his undergraduate degree in construction management, he worked for three years on large and small commercial construction projects as a project engineer with general contractors until he received a graduate certificate in urban and regional planning.

He then spent the next five years working for Terracon Consultants, a nationwide engineering firm that specializes in facilities, environmental, geotechnical, and materials testing.  Lewis learned about each of these four disciplines, but spent most of his time as a project manager in the facilities consulting department conducting engineering assessments such as Property Condition Assessments, energy audits, capital budget planning, or construction loan monitoring on over 10 million square feet spread across more than 600 retail, office, multi-family, or industrial buildings.  On the environmental consulting side of the business, he conducted site reconnaissance and prepared reports for Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, Limited Site Assessments, Soil Sampling, Groundwater Sampling, and Asbestos Sampling.

Wanting to apply his passion for construction and engineering to the legal realm, he went on to receive his law degree and now enjoys helping clients such as owners, developers, contractors, subcontractors, insurers, architects, and engineers.

Lewis formerly sat as the Co-Chair for the Orange County Bar Association's Construction Law Committee.
